Our
Country Cottage, continued...

A Sunday morning in late June, when the days are at their
most perfect in Alaska, except for the bugs. Birds, bees, and
butterflies are everywhere, and the air is wonderfully fresh and sweet with
the scent of new life growing everywhere around.

Here are Jim and Linnet returning from feeding
the neighbor's horse one afternoon in July.

The mare loves celery!

Missy, the country cat, playing with her
"morning"
mouse. They were so plentiful for some time, that she was
bringing one back morning and afternoon, for awhile. She has
become quite a good mouser. She has had to
range farther and farther afield to find them as the summer went
on, and has even
resorted to catching the smaller shrews that inhabit the
pasture, on occasion.
